Murton Cemetery

Murton Cemetery is owned and managed by Murton Parish Council.

The fees for use of the Cemetery are reviewed each year at the Annual Council Meeting in May.  The 2021 fees are available here: MURTON CEMETERY FEES 2021

Cumbria Action for Health have produced a leaflet giving details of Cumbria General Bereavement Information Dec 2020.

The Cemetery is mown during the summer months and maintenance carried out as necessary. Minor maintenance and seasonal tidying is undertaken by volunteers, often on a parish “Boon Day”. Any faults noticed in the meantime should be reported to the Parish Clerk.  The paths were refurbished in 2020.  The current project is to create a wall for memorial plaques and this will be discussed at an Extraordinary Meeting of the Parish Council on Monday 20 September 2021.

Family History Enquiries – viewings of the Cemetery and the Burial Registers can be arranged through the Parish Clerk.

All enquiries should be addressed to the Parish Clerk:
